HAVE DEBATE...WILL TRAVEL (I GUESS)
It's always interesting to find out what others think about you. Entertaining, yes; infuriating, occasionally; surprising, always. I've long been amused to find out others' opinions concerning me, especially when they don't know me too well.
I had such an experience within the last few days. After the debate I had on the AD 70 doctrine, apparently there was a "review" of the debate by someone who advocates that view. From what I was told by the friend who watched it, the reviewer called me a "professional debater." I actually had a good belly laugh when he told me that. In my lifetime, I have had a grand total of 4 debates...and one of those (the first one) was in high school! The other three have been in 2011, 2016, and 2017. My opponents in those three debates have engaged in written and oral debates since the early 1990s; in fact, one of them has even appeared on CNN! And yet, I'm a "professional?" I guess I now can co-op the title of the old 1950s western TV show: "Have Debate...Will Travel."
